French Apple Cake

September 24, 2026 by orchardartwork

This cake requires only a few ingredients and only a few steps yet the result seems so decadent, spongy and soft. Apples provide great texture. The Recipe is not super sweet, which is one of the reasons we liked it so much.

We did find that ours took a little less time to bake than suggested in the recipe so best to check yours early so you don’t over bake your cake.

Ultimate Apple Fritter Bread Recipe: Easy and Decadent

September 15, 2026 by orchardartwork

Hello, yumminess! Where on earth have we been that we never tried this classic?

The sugar/cinnamon combination on top bakes into the apples to form a glaze that you make sweeter with powdered sugar icing. It is so fritter-like, yet there isn’t any frying involved

We made this recipe which uses a full cup of sourdough discard. Yes, it seems like a lot of apples but trust us, you’ll want to use as many as they say.

If you aren’t into the sourdough craze there are plenty of other options – here is a recipe that looks equally tasty. We particularly like that the icing includes a bit of sour cream to offset the sweetness. Plain Greek yogurt will work just as well.

Quick Apple Turnovers

Only four ingredients – what could be better?

https://momsdish.com/recipe/536/quick-apple-pies

We were a little unclear on the instructions as to how many tarts per pastry sheet, but decided to cut each sheet into four squares which yielded eight tarts overall.

We then had a competition to see who could seal their tarts the best – to aid in this we dipped a finger in water and ran it around the edge of each tart; dried our fingers, and then sealed up the edges like large wontons. What little cuties – like a craft project

Apple Crumble

October 20, 2021 by orchardartwork

All it takes is some apples and a few pantry ingredients and you can whip up this bit of tastiness in no time. Recipe courtesy P. Allen Smith.

We can’t decide whether it makes a better dessert or a sweet breakfast item. So, we’ve just decided to go with both! Start your day with this crumble and if there is any left you can enjoy some as your last course in the evening.

Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Apple Fritters

September 29, 2021 by orchardartwork

YUM!

Look at this fried scrumptiousness!  Another recipe from The Pioneer Woman. Yes, a theme here, but we are finding that she puts together recipes that no only taste great but are easy. Simple + Yummy = Awesome!

Ice cream scoop

You don’t need special equipment but I used a cookie scoop/ice cream scoop like she suggested and agree that is totally the way to go. My scoop was a bit too large but I only filled it halfway and the results make me think of footballs. A plate of delicious fried football fritters. What’s not to love?
